NEWQUAY
A foody hotspot!
Newquay is definitely developing into a bit of a foody hotspot with something for everyone from it's chilled out beach cafes, cosy pubs, fresh fish and sea food and fine dining choices. More places to eat Newquay, Cornwall.
Our favourite eateries:
Located at the International Surf Centre (just walk across Fistral beadch if the tide is out). A cosy little restaurant with great service and some amazing fish and seafood dishes. With its open kitchen, you can see the food being prepared and on warmer days you can sit outside. If you like curry, then you should definitiely try their Indian fish curry with dahl, Kachumba, raita salad and a poppadom . At lunch time the fish and chips are good too. Booking is advisable as understandably this place gets busy.
Again located at the International Surf Centre, The Stable has become a firm favourite with us for some pretty amazing pies and pizzas accompanied with real ales, a laid back vibe and a floor to ceiling window for the most amazing views of Fistral. Usually the eatery of choice to start our stay in Newquay.
Just 10-15 minutes walk away on the Pentire headland, nestled on a quite bit of coast, this stylish place has stunning sea views and a simple but tasty menu featuring fish, steak, burgers and sandwiches or sharing boards which are great to enjoy with a drink or two.
This is the pefect place to stop for food and drink on a walk or visit just down the coast to the stunning beach at WatergateBay. It is family and dog friendly and is almost always busy and bustling with sandy wellies or flipflops being perfectly acceptable. We have spent many summer evenings watching the waves roll in with a chilled glass of wine and the fish of the day or crab spaghetti. On colder autmn days the children love cosying up away from the weather with an extreme hot chocolate.
Located in the International Surf Centre at Fistral Beach which is ideal for grabbing a takeaway to eat on the beach. Rick Steins serves proper fish and chips at decent prices. They also do a good range of curries.
A cute and welcoming cafe overlooking Newquay harbour with very reasonable prices and friendly. A lovely place to stop off for a freshly caught crab sandwich or cream tea. They also do a daily specials menu, fresh fish, cooked breakfasts, milkshakes and gournet burgers.
This Austrailian restaurant features an interesting menu created from a mixture of Cornish and Australian produce. Check out the crocodile and chorizo scotch egg with harissa and rose petal sauce or the crispy skin Barramundi with smashed avocado, chilli, nuts, seeds, sweet potato wedges and greens. They also have some tempting vegetarian options.
With delicate china and real teapots for their tea, this quaint little cafe is a real treat. The waffles are particularly popular (almost legendary) and the roasted veg and goats cheese toastie is delicious.
If you are looking for somewhere quick and easy to get to, this Bistro which is part of the Pentire Hotel, is just a few minutes walk away on Pentire Avenue does a pretty mean steak.
Built into the Cliffs over looking South Fistral, this cafe is yet another favourite for anyone that loves a sea view. A great place to stop and releax for breakfast, coffe and cake or dinner in the summer months. They also cater for vegetarians and vegans.
